MISSION | It is the Mission of the Belmar Police Department..... To promote partnerships with the business and residential communities to improve the quality of life within the Borough of Belmar To provide the highest quality of policing services by promoting a working relationship between the community, government and the Police Department We hold ourselves accountable to the citizens we serve and take pride in a professional level of service to all our citizens, as well as those who visit or travel through our community. The Belmar Police Department has been given the responsibility to police our community of one square mile. We are located on the New Jersey Shore, some 60 miles south of New York City. We have a year round population of nearly 6,000 residents and a summer population which will exceed 50,000 people on some weekends. This responsibility is carried out by 21 regular full time Police Officers and approximately 45 part time summer Police Officers. The Belmar Police Department has established our own 9-1-1 emergency call system and all calls are dispatched through the Belmar Police Department Dispatch Center.
