Message from Chief Jack W. Hill, Jr.

On behalf of the Borough of Belmar and the Belmar Police Department, I would like to welcome you to the World Wide Web page of the Belmar Police Department. Our intent, within the pages of this web site, will be to bring you factual information to assist you when you want or need to communicate with the Belmar Police Department. In addition, we will explain the services that now exist in our Department and solicit ideas from our web readers as to where they need help and assistance.

In an effort to allow all of us to focus in on what we, as a Police Department, should be doing for our citizens, town and our Department, following is the Mission Statement of the Belmar Police Department:

MISSION

It is the Mission of the Belmar Police Department.....

To promote partnerships with the business and residential communities to improve the quality of life within the Borough of Belmar

To provide the highest quality of policing services by promoting a working relationship between the community, government and the Police Department

We hold ourselves accountable to the citizens we serve and take pride in a professional level of service to all our citizens, as well as those who visit or travel through our community. We will treat all citizens with dignity, respect and honesty

We will address the concerns of our residents and visitors alike, using the techniques of problem oriented policing.


VISION

The Vision Statement for the Belmar Police Department identifies what our long-term goals are for professionalism and excellence in service and they are as follows:

We will serve as a leader of excellence and innovation as we move through the 21st Century

The Belmar Police Department will be a pro-active Law Enforcement Agency setting high standards for professionalism, integrity and innovative service

Our commitment to excellence will be achieved through partnerships between our community and Agency. We will strive to be the eyes and ears of our community working together to achieve our common goals.

We will maintain this excellence by setting a standard of pride and trust; through providing caring, courteous service to the people we serve.


CORE VALUES

The core values of the Police Department are embodied in the acronym TIPPS

T - Trust. To build and maintain trust between ourselves and the community

I - Integrity. Integrity is crucial to the performance of a Law Enforcement Officer.

P - Professionalism. We are a professional Law Enforcement Agency and will by our conduct exemplify that quality at all times.

P - Pride. We have pride in our Department, its traditions and the community we serve.

S - Service. Above all, we as a Police Department provide efficient and expeditious service to our community.


The Belmar Police Department has been given the responsibility to police our community of one square mile. We are located on the New Jersey Shore, some 60 miles south of New York City. We have a year round population of nearly 6,000 residents and a summer population which will exceed 50,000 people on some weekends. This responsibility is carried out by 21 regular full time Police Officers and approximately 45 part time summer Police Officers.

The Belmar Police Department has established our own 9-1-1 emergency call system and all calls are dispatched through the Belmar Police Department Dispatch Center.
