Press Room » Code Red Message From Belmar Police Department

03/21/2019 at 12:00 AM

This is a Code Red Message from the Belmar Police Department.

This morning at approximately 7:45am, in Behrman Park, in Lake Como, a resident was walking her dog and there was an unprovoked attack by  a raccoon. Neither the dog nor its owner were injured in the incident. Police as well as the Monmouth County SPCA responded, however they were unsuccessful in capturing the raccoon.

While no one was injured in this particular incident, we continue to encourage our residents to be vigilant and cautious around any wild animals and if you see any animals that are acting strangely or aggressive please contact the Belmar Police Department immediately.

Again, if you see a raccoon or any other aggressive wildlife, please take precautionary steps to protect yourselves, family and pets and contact the police department.
