Jurisdiction: Borough of Belmar                        Salary: 50,000 – 75,000

Num. of Positions: 1                                        Workweek Hours: 40 Hours per Week

 

Open to Residents of (1) Borough of Belmar; (2) Monmouth County, (3) Burlington County; Mercer County; Middlesex County, Ocean County; State

Requirements: Progressive supervisory experience managing a department with subordinate mid-level and/or front-line supervisors.

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Manager will be appointed to the Library and will provide strategic leadership and management necessary to ensure that the library has appropriate services, staff, and standards, to function effectively with financial and operational efficiency. Additionally, as the Department Head of the Library, they would assign appropriate duties to staff, review the operations and staffing of the Library, and submit a budget timely to the Library Board of Directors.

 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

Master's Degree in Library or Information Science in a library program accredited by the American Library Association or from a New Jersey college Master’s program in Library Science that has been deemed acceptable by Thomas Edison State College is preferred.

 

Bachelor or a Master’s Degree from an accredited college/university will also be considered.

 

EXPERIENCE:

Five (5) years of management/supervision is required.

 

LICENSE:

Valid license as a Professional Librarian issued by Thomas Edison College is preferred

 

Must be able to speak, hear, comprehend, and respond to staff, customers, and the public in person, in writing, and in telephone conversations in English. Understanding and communicating in Spanish as well is encouraged.
