Belmar 150^th Birthday Celebration:

Belmar Historical Society, Press Release:

Belmar Day will take place on Saturday, September 10 and will celebrate the 150th Anniversary of the beginning of Ocean Beach/Belmar. The Belmar Historical Society (BHS) is the sponsor of Belmar Day which will be held at Taylor Pavilion from ten to two PM.

Belmar organizations have been invited to participate to showcase their group. Each organization will have a table display to let visitors know what they are all about. Groups who have not already signed up may reserve a free table by contacting the BHS.

The BHS display will feature many old photos and other historical items about the history of Belmar. They will have an interesting trivia quiz game and give away anniversary gifts. Visitors can also take a look at the Friends of the Belmar Harbor sailboats and Union Firehouse equipment among the many displays.

"Belmar Day is planned to be fun, like a birthday party for Belmar. Having the Belmar organization showing off what they do will encourage new members. Belmar would not be the town we love without these wonderful groups. And you need to have a piece of birthday cake too!" said Pat O'Keefe, BHS Trustee.

The official anniversary cake cutting will take place at noon on September 10. Belmar Day is a free and open to the public event and is suitable for families. Everyone is invited to the celebration.
